I think accurate, re the ...Everything you say is... I think accurate, re the 1983 cycle! Yes. Everything is contradicted. EVERYTHING OMG. Some of that we can possibly put down to the time travel having potentially changed things, since we definitely don't have an answer on whether you CAN change things with time travel on this show. "Sarah" indicated not so much, but this indicates maybe? Overall though EVERYTHING about the cycle before this has been written, rewritten, and the show bible ignored so many times that it gives us a headache trying to track it. While we haven't updated the timeline page in forever I'm pretty sure there's already substantial BUT HOW DOES THIS WORK swearing in there. >.>

Probably because Mara was a superior species-ist asshole and that was a long shot at best? Plus you don't want your help escaping into a thinny without you. I could make some kind of weird time-paradox argument here about whether or not that's really a memory Mara could've had but I don't need the headache. >.>Anna Hammetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10095633218958433882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271373189216022547.post-24397938384958466742015-12-13T11:35:08.146-08:002015-12-13T11:35:08.146-08:00Simon's death is by now contradicted so we hav...Simon's death is by now contradicted so we have at least two theories of the timeframe of the crime. I mean, in season two Simon came looking for her after she came sobbing to original Lucy, but then later on he was described as you say to have died before James did, so... eh. Pick and choose! It's possible that he fake died and real died? Actually, come to think of it, I wonder if Simon visited the original Lucy Ripley at all, and if that wasn't Vince or someone else using Simon's name. I mean, I doubt that's what was originally intended when they wrote the episode back in season two, I'm perfectly willing to believe they're contradicting themselves all over the place, but that might still be a good retcon. And yeah, as stated somewhere around here! I have a theory for the tattoo, mainly that Dave might have had one to start the Guard, too, but I wouldn't be surprised if all of the timefuckery didn't change things.

Mm, I hadn't remembered the Gemini thing, good catch! Heh, it certainly sucks now, although given the memory wipe at least it wasn't too traumatizing at the time.

I do not know what on earth Vince has been thinking for almost the entirety of this season. Or if he's been thinking. Post-Dave's death he gets some latitude for grief but up to that point? Why, Vince. Why are you not being very, very cautious around your possessed brother. Why are you talking about your plans around him. Why are you fucking around in the timestream at all. WHY ARE YOU TAKING HIM TO A THINNY. Meh.

Kitty Chandlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05524808952260453841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271373189216022547.post-35488145075120168092015-11-17T03:22:06.621-08:002015-11-17T03:22:06.621-08:00I've also wondered about Nathan's adoption...I've also wondered about Nathan's adoption. Garland would surely have had to have taken Nathan from Max long before 1983? Nathan would have been 7 or 8 then, yet he knew nothing about Max in "Spiral"? Was he even aware at that point that he was adopted? I don't remember. I guess you could possibly put it down to trauma, but that would have had to have been some pretty big trauma for Nathan to have blocked Max out completely. Unless Max did something else (maybe killing Nathan's real mother?) when Nathan was just a baby, but no one could prove it or catch him for it, so Garland and maybe his own wife took Nathan in. Then Max came back for some reason right around when James was killed and they had him arrested for that, at which point Garland only then adopted Nathan officially? I dunno. Maybe my understanding of the timeline is a bit screwy though, because I’d always, for some reason, thought Simon died before James did. Though it would make more sense that he died while tracking down Lucy when she disappeared after James was killed.
As for Duke’s driver’s licence, writing the date day first isn’t weird where I come from! Probably why I didn’t even notice that. Also, May 22 might not be Eric Balfour’s birthday (it’s in April, I believe, three days after mine) but could it be Duke’s? I know it was probably there because of the calendar in the police station of the eighties, but Duke did say a few seasons ago he was a Gemini, which would fit with the zodiac- even if it would therefore suck for him that James Cogan died on his fucking birthday. (Incidentally, Nathan’s birthday makes him a Sagittarius, and diametrically opposite Gemini in the zodiac. Make of that what you will…)
Vince was firmly in possession of the Idiot Ball this episode, wasn’t he? (though that’s putting it nicely). Not only has he witnessed what happens to Dave around Thinnies, he’s fucking experienced it himself in Dave’s body, but no, we’ll just try and shoot at the Thinny/Void Monster with a fucking shotgun. Well done. So very well done.
Ok, so my knowledge of the timeline isn’t so screwy then in thinking Simon supposedly dies before James (I’m writing this as I’m reading because all of the thoughts). So, okay, what if Simon survived the-was it a boat accident? that Duke apparently witnessed, and decided to use that as an excuse to lay low for a while? Then, he finds out Lucy has disappeared after James dies and follows her to where she met with the original Lucy Ripley, and after threatening Original Lucy, then died? Possibly Lucy had Garland help to get rid of him then? But that still doesn’t explain, as you noted, how she’d have time to track Original Lucy down if she was going into the Barn the day James died. Did she already know where Original Lucy was and had already planned on going to see her for some other reason just before she went into the Barn? Also, what the hell happened to the Guard tattooed arm that James was supposed to have seen before he died? Was Vanessa’s vision wrong? Or did all of Vince’s fucking around with time change James’ death from what Vanessa had originally seen that day?
Oh my God, I did not see the next week preview THE BOYS ARE HUGGING!!!!???? TWO HUGS IN ONE SEASON!? Well, at least I can prepare myself emotionally this time!
Good Nathan for your faith in your boyfriend, and good Duke for proving him right!
PaintedWolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02143841248201859328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271373189216022547.post-37974109441113561742015-11-15T03:00:40.744-08:002015-11-15T03:00:40.744-08:00There were quite a few inconsistencies in this epi...There were quite a few inconsistencies in this episode in relation to the first 3 seasons. With regards to Lucy maybe Nathan and Vince told her everything afterwards before they left about taking James to the barn etc, and then she ran off to see real Lucy and inform her, although the timeline is wonky. In the season 3 final however, James told Nathan that when he met Lucy she was already frantic, knowing that she had to go into the barn or kill the one she loved, which this episode contradicts because James didn't know up until his death.
Also Duke's babysitter's vision saw a pale arm with a Guard tattoo, coming towards the CK's face, Dave has no tattoo.
There are still questions over Nathan's adoption, in this episode Nathan was already with Garland in 1983 but Max Hansen in Spiral said he'd been in prison for almost 10 000 days which is about 27 years and Garland in that same episode said he'd only adopted Nathan after Max Hansen was sent to prison, and Garland suspected him of the CK's death implying he wasn't in prison at the time.
And then the whole thing about whether Max's wife and Nathan's mother was the woman Garland married or did he have his own wife who we'd assume had already died by 1983 and Lucy's cycle. Don't think we'll ever get clarity on this though.

Mara had all of Lucy's memories so she must have known about Barbara's trouble and the ring, why didn't she attempt to locate her or her family when she needed an open thinny.
Peridot81https://www.blogger.com/profile/03204762117936371835noreply@blogger.com
