Well, there's a lot of other factors at play with the potion: it's a potion, not straight blood; Renard is only half-hexen; Renard was already whammied with a different potion-spell-thing; we've never seen Renard do any magic at all, just had it done to him. So it's difficult to say whether or not it "should" have had an effect, especially since they're being awfully chintzy about telling us what the world's magic rules are.Anna Hammetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10095633218958433882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271373189216022547.post-82108694622208103592013-03-31T03:11:31.953-07:002013-03-31T03:11:31.953-07:00I am new to your murderboarding and I really like ...I am new to your murderboarding and I really like it. I went back to this episode because something didn't sit right with me. We have Adalind lose her hexenbiest spirit by a few drops of Nick's Grimm blood... Then we have nothing happen to Renard when he drinks a potion that appears to contain Nick's Grimm blood... I find this lack of consistancy depressing...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08074868275952959251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271373189216022547.post-56346203426857423842013-03-20T08:32:59.777-07:002013-03-20T08:32:59.777-07:00Also, I love the visual puns they had in this one....Also, I love the visual puns they had in this one.

Nick: "I'm trying to give her some space."
(*Cuts to Juliette with a big freaking empty space in her floor.*)

Nick: "Nah…let's give him some more time in case he's making some headway."
(*Cuts to Monroe getting smacked in the head.*)Ellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17725013257536616571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271373189216022547.post-54691022320642479072013-03-20T08:01:05.709-07:002013-03-20T08:01:05.709-07:00I'm hoping that once she's more stable (or...I'm hoping that once she's more stable (or at least as stable as anyone gets in this show, it doesn't seem like anyone gets much time to breathe and collect themselves) they'll actually come out and tell her. I was really hoping Renard would cough it up, but in hindsight expecting Renard to cough up any information is like expecting the moon to fall out of the sky; it might happen one day very far in the future, but it's not likely.

I definitely like Rosalee's development; I like that she's now in a position of authority to make ambiguous, hard choices, a lot like Renard really. And I hope this moves her into a more prominent role in the team than just potions master, even if not necessarily more screen time. There's a lot of cast to balance out, so.

I bet. I was REALLY looking forward to running over here and being like, "You guys you guys you guys NEURONS!" But you already made that connection, (pun not intended,) so…nyeh. No showing off for me.

On the subject of cleverness, I would like to take this moment to commend you on the use of the phrase "Reinigen's ass." :)

Ahem. Anyhoo.

Regarding the codex, there seems to be a rather important distinction between what violates the first law and what doesn't: namely, personal gain through harm. As Monroe said: "Very bad things happen when wesen reveal themselves in order to take advantage of normal folk." Not "when wesen reveal themselves…period," but when wesen do so under these particular circumstances. There have been other wesen who woged in front of humans before—heck, Monroe's done it at least two or three times that we've seen, and he's spoken fondly of Old World customs of scaring villagers on Halloween—but they didn't get in trouble for it. So maybe it's only forbidden to reveal oneself in the context of hurting people, or only in front of large groups. Or only if you're a little shithead with a general attitude of "Screw the community, I do what I WANT 'cause I'm a wesen" machismo.

On the other hand, we've seen wesen in earlier episodes who FRIGGIN' EAT PEOPLE. So I'm gonna guess that it's a combination of criteria. Basically, if you're gonna woge in front of a vanilla human, either don't make a scene and don't hurt anybody or be sure to eat your witnesses.

And on the subject of getting eaten…oh, Gus. When bailing out on psychotic accomplices who have already killed two people and show distinct signs of narcissistic megalomania…don't TELL them that you're quitting. Just walk out the damn door. If they ask where you're going, tell them you're gonna go plan tomorrow's job. Then get to the cops. Or get out of town. But whatever you do, DON'T TELL THEM YOU'RE QUITTING before you've even made it to the door!Ellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17725013257536616571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4271373189216022547.post-68371820620521683382013-03-18T10:30:13.060-07:002013-03-18T10:30:13.060-07:00So I didn't get the whole hole in her mind thi...So I didn't get the whole hole in her mind thing (I KNOW, I'M SORRY) until after I'd watched the ep, and I got really ragey about them doing YET ANOTHER FORM OF JULIETTE WHUMP before they'd even resolved the last one. But now that that connection's clear I feel much better about the whole thing. Still really impatient for her to get an explanation, though.

I am super into Rosalee as a sort of appointed protector of the local Wesen community. More active development for her is very welcome.

Finally, Renard's cryptic speech to Nick reignited my pet "Nick is Pendragon and Renard is Merlin" theory with a vengeance.Miwomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16709427652545868711noreply@blogger.com
